CE Marking is the compulsory product approval scheme in European Union. CE Marking is the declaration of conformity for concerned products compliance with the Essential Requirement stipulated on the New Approach Directives aiming at harmonization of techniques and standards in European Union. CE marked products should meet the safety, healthy and environmental requirements, thus it is also called CE Conformity Mark.

CE is the Latin abbreviation of European Community. In addition, CE also means Conformity with European (Demand), thus CE is used to marking products in EU.

CE Marking – passport for products within EEC

Products manufactured in or out of EEC, should bear the CE Marking if circulated freely within EU market. CE marking is the passport for the manufacturers to enter Europe market. The products bearing the CE marking can be circulated freely in the members of EU, thus the purpose to establish a free common market for goods and capital circulation is achieved.

The scope of the products to bear the CE marking

Any products covered by the New Approach Directives must bear the CE Mark if you want to sell or use in EU.

For most of the electrical and electronic products, there are two directives should meet, they are Low Voltage Directives (LVD) and EMC Directives.

CE marking and products responsibility

In fact, CE Marking is only a declaration of manufacturer, and an announcement for the market inspector of government and the distributor. The CE marking only declare that the manufacturer has evaluated the products in compliance with the relevant requirements, thus the products can be circulated freely within EU. In order to decrease the risk of the manufacturer, the most effective way is to have the products to be tested in the third party certification body and obtain the test report.

The procedure of getting CE Marking:

1. Contacting the International Certification Co-Operation Department of GTIHEA;

2. Fill in the “Testing and Certification Application Form”Provide the completed Application Form and the documents requested in the Application Form;

3. International Certification Co-Operation Department will develop a testing plan for the client after evaluating the completed Application Form and the documents provided;

4. Send the testing samples to GTIHEA;

5. If the test result is positive, GTIHEA will issue the test report and CE Certificate, if the test result is negative, GTIHEA will inform the client to make corrective actions on their products;
